Save a Child, Change the World

Changing the life of one child is like dropping the proverbial pebble in a pond. The ripple effects of that one life can change lives for generations. In our own family histories, we have seen the growth that occurs through the generations as each has bettered itself, sometimes by the sheer blessing of something unforeseen or the generous help of others. There are such stories at the Brookside Community Youth Program.

DeMarcus Jones was once a troubled kid on the streets until he was rescued by the Brookside Community Youth Program. Today, DeMarcus is a college student majoring in early childhood education. A ripple. After 15 years in the program, Casey Van Horn is also in college studying to become a teacher. Another ripple.

In fact, the program has generated 26 college graduates, 26 ripples that threaten to become a tidal wave of change in the lives of generations to come.
