About the Brookside Community Youth ProgramThe Brookside Community Youth Program, located at 1035 N. Olney Street, is positively impacting the lives of children and youth in the Brookside Community, a near-eastside community of Indianapolis, one of the roughest areas in central Indiana.The vision of Brookside Community Youth Program is to be a catalyst for transforming the community by empowering its youth to take pride and ownership in their neighborhood. The mission of the Brookside Community Youth Program is to nurture a ‘culture of ownership’ among neighborhood youth through a process of developmental activities, opportunities and incentives in order to empower teens to contribute to their community organizations, families and the workforce. The Brookside Community Youth Program, Inc., is a 501(c)(3), faith based organization that provides educational, recreational, spiritual, social and cultural activities for children five days a week in one of the highest “at risk” areas of Indianapolis. It is the largest free program in Indianapolis, with over 140 children registered. In an area with the highest drop out rate in the city of Indianapolis, Brookside has seen over 25 of its participating children obtain a college education. Unlike most programs of its kind, it is one of the few that is offered free of charge. Next> |
